2010 - New series of 3 DAY INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS at SJAS

 

The world we live in has changed quite a bit in the past couple of years…So we have redesigned most of the workshops to fit the current economy.

Two days shorter, much more intensive, and priced at $500. Five of the weekend workshops incorporate national holidays in order to make them even more convenient for those who have inflexible work schedules. (Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day.)

Basic Hand Engraving:
3 Days - $500 + graver blanks & materials. All other tools furnished.

• Bench set-up, tools, and equipment
• Sharpening tool blanks
• Making basic cuts
• Combining the basic cuts to form leaves, flowers, lettering & geometric designs
• Transferring and cutting common patterns

Workshop includes comprehensive notes
8 hours of instruction daily & 3 hours of optional after hours studio time to practice
Graver blanks and practice materials available

8:00am – 5:00pm, 1 hour lunch, 6:00pm – 9:00pm after hours practice.

Dates: Feb. 13 – 15, May 29 – 31, Sept. 4 – 6, Oct. 9 -11
$200 Deposit. Minimum of 3 participants – maximum of 6


Open Studios Workshop:
3 Days - $500 + graver blanks & materials. All other tools furnished.

This is an opportunity to learn ANY single new technique, or “tune-up” techniques you haven’t quite mastered. Open to anyone who has been through a basic workshop. You get to choose what to learn.

8 hours of instruction daily & 3 hours of after hours studio time to practice

8:00am – 5:00pm, 1 hour lunch, then 6:00pm – 9:00pm optio
nal after hours practice.

$200 Deposit. Minimum of 3 participants – maximum of 6

Ring Engraving & Stone Setting:
3 Days - $500 + ring blanks & stones if needed.

Featuring the “Ring Genie” by Chris DeCamillis, this workshop will explore all of the uses and shortcuts available to the jeweler with this awesome new tool.

Workshop includes comprehensive notes
8 hours of instruction daily & 3 hours of optional after hours studio time to practice

8:00am – 5:00pm, 1 hour lunch, 6:00pm – 9:00pm optional after hours practice.

Please bring your own gravers, milgrain tools, beading tools, drills, carbide ball burs & setting burs if at all possible. All other tools furnished.

Dates: April 23 – 25, Aug. 6 - 8
$200 Deposit. Minimum of 3 participants – maximum of 6

The "Ring Genie" will be available for purchase during the workshop

 

 

Basic Western Engraving:                                                             

3 Days - $500 + gravers if needed.

 

Shaping and sharpening the gravers used in this style of engraving. Learn the cuts used for traditional Western engraving.  Simple design and layout of your engraving patterns.

 

Workshop includes comprehensive notes
8 hours of instruction daily & 3 hours of optional after hours studio time to practice

8:00am – 5:00pm, 1 hour lunch, 6:00pm – 9:00pm optional after hours practice.

 

Dates: Mar. 26 - 28, June 18 - 20
$200 Deposit. Minimum of 3 participants – maximum of 6

Traveling Engraving or Stone Setting Workshop

Completely portable – 6 foot-controlled Lindsay AirGravers, and small vises that can be brought to your studio, store, workshop, or classroom facility. All you need supply is bench space and an air compressor. PalmControl tools also available.

 

Private Sessions – To your specifications by the day, week or month.
